The tranlations of MrColdbird's Project on GE2 just reached 100% 20 mins ago (UCT+8:00). The editors have already reviewed more than half of this. What are your thoughts about the translations of the last strings of this project? I heard that some contributors used machine translations to speed things up. Does doing so worth it?
See, my beef is that I don't know what "reviewing" entails. Is it JUST proofreading/translation checking? Does it also include checking to make sure all the text fits?
And if they used machine translations... then what's the point? I could handwrite the kanji into google translate myself and achieve the same result if I was thus inclined...
...but as for me? You all should know my feelings on the matter, and those feelings are that I really couldn't care less! I can read Japanese just fine (through both actual reading and context clues), I already have GE2RB, and Resurrection is coming in like a month, which is already better than GE2/RB due to having the better story AND eliminating 95% of what made GE2 and RB completely lacking in difficulty.
I'll see you all on the other side come October 29th!
I happen to like GE2RB story a bit more, though that is probably in part due to the character episodes really helping flesh out the NPCs. I will agree on the difficulty though. I honestly don't know where the knockdown/weakpoints are for each of the new enemies, but I sure remember where they are for the old ones.
An update for those of you who are despirate for information.
I am one of the translators/reviewers for the GE2 translation project. Since no one else has made any news about it, here's the current status as of right now:
The 100% translated hype is 100% bull, as you probably already deduced. There are ~6000 dialogs left that are machine translated. As the attached picture shows, the translations are god-awful. One of the reviewers approved a bunch of machine-translated garbage too, so sifting through that will suck too. I am trying to manually retranslate them, but it takes me about ~4 mins/line because my kanji skills are bad, there are a lot of GE-specific words that do not show up right in the jisho (obviously) that I have to manually catch, and then after I have a rough idea I try and faithfully capture the essence of the line in English (like the Hyperdimension Neptunia Re:Translation that 4chan and 8chan are doing). Hopefully next month with the release of the last 4 God Eater anime episodes will bring enough attention back to the project to get it wrapped up. I want to see this complete as much as any of you do, but there's a lot of work left to do, and I honestly don't have much of a NEET lifestyle so I can't dedicate much time to it.

By the way, that pedo is already been here since last year, i checked his overall contributions.
Shhhhh... That's the last thing the contributors for the project would like to hear. They've already invested time and effort for this. And their motivation was shaken a lot with that announcement last December.
I heard Rage Burst had some key elements of the GE2 story cut out. Not exactly sure which parts, but I remember something about some of the character building in the story and, obviously, the special character episode DLCs. Anyways, as expected the latest GE anime episode revived some interest in the project (after we all had a tear or two), and there are a lot more people correcting the machine translations now! I can talk to devnoname and MrColdbird about bringing more contributers in. If you have any knowledge of Japanese at all, you can probably help out. Also, a lot of those 6000 lines are relatively simple, being things like parts to target on the aragami, or a bullet editor title. When I go through I keep a tab for jisho.org to look up any kanji I don't know (hell, there's 5000 of them!) and the rest is just grammar correction.
You can run GE2 on PC with PPSSPP. And yes, you can tweak a lot of quality settings to make it look almost as good as the Vita version (I bought the GE2 special bundle with the plush God Arc aragami, best purchase ever!)
As for being a lolicon, no, I won't touch Shio/Chiot. She belongs with Soma. Funny how Japan is xenophobic and generally dislikes interracial couples (except with whites), but they had both Johannes and Aisha, and Shio and Soma. 9000% hyped for ressurection after seing her in the trailer though. She really was a great part of the original GE story (seriously, who didn't bawl their eyes out after the Arda Nova fight?)
It's not like I can help being a lolicon or anything. It's just what I am.
DLC character episodes (Return of the Defense Team) have been integrated into Chapter 8 of the Rage Burst story. Chapter 7 is QB and Chapter 8 is entirely defense team stuff.
And tbh, I probably have more of a fluency in Japanese than 80% of that team, but I couldn't care less! The localizations are coming, and I, with a Vita, have zero investment in a translation patch for a PSP game! MUAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

None of the key elements, character building or DLC got cut from Rage Burst. All of the GE2 content is available in God Eater 2 Rage Burst. The "another episode" DLC is playable from rank 7/8 and forms part of the character episodes for the "Defence team." and "extra story" stuff (Lindow/Rindow story) can be found in the mission counter.
